Powder Coating
The need for reducing energy and labour costs while achieving high efficiency and environmental safety standards, encourage the use of powder coating processes. Powder coating solutions are currently very simple to use. A suitable product is manufactured and delivered in the form of delicate, fine powder. It is then applied on a surface intended to be coated using this method. As the surface is heated, the powder melts, begins to flow and forms a uniform "skin" or coating. Benefits of applying powder coats are considerable. Effective use of powder reaches up to 98%.
For the pre-treatment of steel and aluminium surfaces we use products from CHEMATALL POLSKA employing zirconium technology. Detailed components are prepared for coating on an automatic line, and the entire process is supported by ultrasound technology.
We can achieve corrosion resistance levels up to 1000-hour exposure in a salt spray chamber, according to DIN 50021. In the case of components made from hot-rolled steel we apply abrasive blasting treatment and a dual-layer coating system consisting of a base coat with a high zinc content, and a top coat with the colour and texture of the Customer's choice.
Powder coating, also referred to as powder painting, is currently one of the most popular and most widely applied methods of coating metal elements.
In consists in coating a metal surface with powder using electrokinetic or electrostatic spraying methods. Afterwards, coated material is heated, which leads to polymerization and hence to melting of the powder coat.
In effect, numerous advantages are achieved that conventional solvent-based paints cannot offer. Key benefits include:
- smooth coating, without cracks and stains,
- no base coat required,
- anti-corrosive properties,
- resistance to mechanical damage,
- thermal resistance,
- high resistance to chemical agents,
- environmental safety,
- coated surface can be characterised by various effects, depending on the type of powder coating, e.g. high gloss, semi-gloss, matte, etc.
